Details of Structural Devices

Some construction details of how the structure fits together.

Section through Warehouse

This is a section through the warehouse showing the way in which the tension members help support the beams.

Design Developments for the Warehouse

Basic design for the warehouse using a similar structural system to that of the Renault center

Inspiration for Project 1

This is the renault distribution center designed by Foster & Partners which is the inspiration for my warehouse design. The structure really appeals to me and through this system I believe that i will be able to create a long span while creating something that is visually striking.

Temporary Propping and Safety Rail

This image shows temporary propping of the Condek and the soon to be poured concrete. This propping is removed as soon as the concrete has cured. The image also shows the safety rail to prevent workers falling over the edge whilst working.

'Condek' Shuttering

The above image shows the self sacrificing 'Condek' Which is used to hold the concrete in position while is cures. This iron does not get removed once the concrete cures rather it is left and creates a clean surface below the slab where services and suspended ceilings may be later attached.

Precast panel starter bars

This image shows where the joint will occur between the panel and the slab. The starter bars are bent for delivery and the rough surface will allow the newly poured concrete to bond to create a rigid connection.

Precast Panel Delivery

The above photo shows a precast panels getting delivered to site

Double Story Construction

This is a section through a typical double story office block, It consists of a suspended slab upper floor supported by secondary beams. The curtain wall consists of a brick veneer. The roofing system consists of UB rafters 'C' channel purlins and a iron roof. The section also shows a suspended ceiling system.

to the concrete panel.

1m X 1m detail

Image shows a typical bolted intersecting connection of the splice
trusses to a girder truss using 150mm x 20mm bolts.

truss which carry the light weight C channel purlins.
Engineering computations were completed by GHA
Engineers. Ennis Rd Tallarook. on the 7th 2005.

Overall View of Factory 6

Factory 6 Burbank Business Park
Aberdeen Road Altona Vic 3018.
The factories are constructed using prefabricated
concrete panels which carry steel splice trusses and light weight
C channel purlins topped with sheet roofing. Designed and built
by Burbank Australia Pty.Ltd. completed 02/2006.
